The Best Technical SEO Agencies and Consultants in the UK (2026)
Published: 3 November 2026 | Last updated: 3 November 2026 | 12 min read

Search "technical SEO agency" and you'll find plenty of lists.
The ones from Siege Media, NP Digital and Journeyhorizon all put the agency that wrote them at number one.
That's not a crime.
However, it does mean those lists can't answer the question you actually need answered: which of these firms can fix the technical problems holding your site back?
Technical SEO is one of the easiest parts of SEO to check.
A crawl problem either got fixed or it didn't. Pages either got indexed or they didn't.
Full disclosure: I'm an SEO consultant who sells technical SEO audits, and I'm on this list. I've put myself through exactly the same checks as everyone else.
In this guide, I'll show you the checks I ran, then take you through 10 UK technical SEO agencies and consultants, grouped by the kind of site each one suits best.
Short on time? Here are the key takeaways
- Match the specialist to the problem: large, complex sites, migrations, ecommerce and news publishers each need different technical skills.
- Named results are common here: eight of the 10 publish a named technical result with a number attached.
- Prices aren't: only one of the 10 publishes a price for technical SEO. Most quote by the day or by the project.
- Check reviews off-site: Blue Array has the most Trustpilot reviews on this list, 86 at a TrustScore of 4.6.
- Google's AI already has favourites: its AI Overview cites five of the 10 for at least one of three technical SEO searches. Screaming Frog is cited for all three.
How I checked every name on this list
I didn't take anyone's word for it, including my own.
- Technical results: a named client with a number attached, from crawling and indexing fixes, migrations or site health work.
- A company you can look up: I checked Companies House wherever the business shows a company number or trades under its own name.
- Independent reviews: reviews on Trustpilot or Clutch, where the business doesn't choose what's shown.
- Published prices: a starting price for technical SEO work on its own website.
- AI search signal: whether Google's AI Overview cites the business when UK buyers search "technical seo agency", "technical seo consultant" or "technical seo audit".
I checked everything on 3 November 2026.
Nobody paid to be on this list.

Large and complex sites: technical specialists
When a site has millions of URLs, the problems are rarely on the page.
They're in how Google crawls, renders and indexes the site, and fixing them takes specialists.
SALT.agency
Best for: large, technically complex sites, including SaaS and marketplaces.
- Company: a trading name of Subpixel Ltd, incorporated in 2014 (Companies House 09144862), registered in Horsforth, Leeds, the same suburb I work from. It also has a London office.
- Technical results: Cloudflare, with 318% organic traffic growth, and TCGplayer, with total ranking keywords up 102%, according to its case studies.
- How it works: it reviews sites against a 300-point+ technical SEO framework, according to its technical SEO page.
- AI search signal: Google's AI Overview cites that page for "technical seo consultant".
- Reviews: one Trustpilot review.
Worth knowing: it appears in the technical SEO lists written by Siege Media, NP Digital and Journeyhorizon.
Blue Array
Best for: brands that want an award-winning search specialist.
- Company: Blue Array Ltd, incorporated in 2015 (Companies House 09610441), based in Reading, with offices in London and Seville.
- Technical results: Infinity Motorcycles, with year-on-year rankings up 85% and organic revenue up 20%, alongside improved site health and crawlability, according to its success story.
- Awards: SEO Agency of the Year at the European Agency Awards 2026, and Best Large SEO Agency at the UK Search Awards 2022.
- Reviews: a TrustScore of 4.6 from 86 Trustpilot reviews, the most of anyone on this list.
Worth knowing: its technical SEO packages are sold by the day, from two to 15 days a month, but it doesn't publish a day rate.
Screaming Frog
Best for: very large sites, and sites recovering from a Google penalty.
- Company: Screaming Frog Limited, incorporated in 2010 (Companies House 07277243), based in Henley-on-Thames.
- Technical results: Shazam, with organic visibility up more than 2,000% from its technical SEO consulting, and Namecheap, which recovered from a Google manual action and then grew organic visibility a further 60% above its pre-penalty level, according to its case studies.
- What it's known for: it also makes the Screaming Frog SEO Spider, the website crawler.
- AI search signal: Google's AI Overview cites it for all three searches I checked, and its SEO page ranks second for "technical seo agency".
- Reviews: a TrustScore of 3.6 from 15 Trustpilot reviews.
Worth knowing: its technical SEO pricing is based on the number of days the review needs. Ask for a day rate up front.
Migrations: protect your rankings through a move
A migration is where technical SEO pays for itself, or costs you the most.
These three publish migration work you can look at.
Edge45
Best for: businesses moving domain or rebranding.
- Company: Edge45 Limited, incorporated in 2015 (Companies House 09535373), based at The Guildhall in York.
- Technical results: I-Finity Associates, with a 169% increase in conversion rate after its site migration, according to its case study.

- Reviews: none found on Trustpilot.
Worth knowing: it also appears in my guide to the best SEO migration agencies.
Impression
Best for: migrations handled as part of a wider SEO programme.
- Company: Impression Digital Limited, incorporated in 2012 (Companies House 08284662), based in Nottingham, with an office in London.
- Technical results: Stanhope Insurance, with a 21% increase in organic conversions, according to its case study.
- Migration experience: its technical SEO page says it has performed hundreds of SEO migrations.
- Reviews: 4.9 from seven Clutch reviews.
Worth knowing: a certified B Corp, if that matters to your business.
Liberty Marketing
Best for: international businesses merging several sites into one.
- Company: Liberty Marketing Ltd, founded in 2008 (Companies House 06591688), based in Cardiff.
- Technical work: Universal Music Group, overseeing the technical SEO migration of 22 websites across 17 territories into one global Sitecore website, according to its case study.
- Search signal: its technical SEO page ranks sixth for "technical seo consultant".
- Reviews: a Trustpilot profile with no reviews yet.
Worth knowing: the case study describes the scope of the project but doesn't give a result. Ask what happened to traffic afterwards.
Ecommerce and mid-sized sites
On an online shop, technical problems such as duplicate product URLs and slow pages cost sales, not just rankings.
ClickSlice
Best for: ecommerce sites that need technical fixes before they can grow.
- Company: ClickSlice Limited, incorporated in 2017 (Companies House 10876199), based in London.
- Technical results: Plumbworld, where it started with a full website audit and technical fixes, and 38 keywords now rank first, according to its case study.
- AI search signal: Google's AI Overview cites its technical SEO page for "technical seo consultant".
- Reviews: a TrustScore of 4.0 from 21 Trustpilot reviews.
Worth knowing: the Plumbworld results cover October 2024 to January 2025. Ask for something more recent too.
The SEO Works
Best for: businesses that want technical SEO handled inside an ongoing retainer.
- Company: The SEO Works Limited, founded in 2009 (Companies House 06845547), based in Sheffield.
- Technical results: Minesoft, with a 163% increase in users, supported by technical migration work, according to its case study.
- AI search signal: Google's AI Overview cites its technical SEO page for "technical seo consultant", and the page ranks third.
- Reviews: 4.8 from 58 Clutch reviews and a TrustScore of 4.2 from 38 Trustpilot reviews.
Worth knowing: it says technical SEO should be priced within your overall SEO campaign, so expect a retainer rather than a one-off audit.
Specialists and audits
Polemic Digital (Barry Adams)
Best for: news publishers.
- Company: Polemic Ltd, incorporated in 2016 (Companies House NI637171), based in Cookstown, Northern Ireland. Its site says the consultancy was founded in 2014.
- Experience: its founder, Barry Adams, has practised SEO since 1998, and Polemic co-founded the News & Editorial SEO Summit, according to its About page.
- What it offers: technical SEO audits that look at publishing sites for the specific things Google looks for in news.
- Reviews: none found on Trustpilot.
Worth knowing: it doesn't publish case studies with figures. If you're not a publisher, look elsewhere on this list.
GWContent (Graeme Whiles)
Best for: businesses that want a fixed-price technical audit before committing to anything else.
Yes, this is me. Here's how I score on the same checks.
- Who does the work: me. No account managers and no juniors.
- Company: GW Copywriting Limited, trading as GWContent, incorporated in 2023 (Companies House 14724975).
- Technical results: at 6sense, a dormant subdomain was taking 118M of 122M Google crawl requests, leaving almost nothing for the pages that mattered. At REHAUS, I removed 2,349 junk redirect rules, rebuilt 1,600 more and consolidated 113 duplicate collections.
- Published prices: a technical SEO audit from £1,600, which is four days at £400 a day, delivered in seven to 10 working days with a walkthrough call.
- Reviews: 4.9 from 33 Google reviews. None on Clutch or Trustpilot yet.
Worth knowing: I'm one person. If you need a team to implement fixes across millions of URLs, SALT.agency or Blue Array will suit you better.
Questions to ask a technical SEO agency
Whoever you shortlist, these four questions show you how the work will actually be done.

- Will you crawl the whole site, or a sample? A sample can miss the section where the problem lives.
- Will you look at how Google actually crawls the site? Search Console's crawl stats or server logs show what Google does, not just what a crawler finds.
- How will you prioritise the fixes? You want a short list ordered by impact and effort, not 300 warnings.
- Who implements the fixes? An audit nobody acts on is wasted money, so agree who does what before you start.

What technical SEO costs in the UK
Only one of the 10 publishes a price for technical SEO: my audit, from £1,600.
Blue Array and Screaming Frog both price by the day without publishing a rate, Edge45 quotes on the size of your site, and The SEO Works prices technical work inside a retainer.
The good news? A one-off audit tells you what's broken before you commit to a retainer.
My survey of published UK SEO prices shows what providers charge more generally.
Final Thoughts
The best technical SEO agency for you is the one that has already fixed the kind of problem your site has.
The technical SEO agencies worth hiring aren't the ones that top their own lists. They're the ones that can show you a crawl, an index or a migration they fixed, with the numbers to prove it.
If you want to know what's holding your site back, start with a technical SEO audit, read my case studies, or get in touch. If you need a bigger team to implement the fixes, I'll tell you which agency on this list I'd call.

Technical SEO Agency Frequently Asked Questions
What does a technical SEO agency do?
A technical SEO agency makes sure search engines can crawl, render and index a website properly. The work usually covers site architecture, crawl budget, indexing, redirects and migrations, site speed, structured data and duplicate content.
How much does a technical SEO audit cost in the UK?
Few agencies publish a price. Of the 10 UK agencies and consultants in this guide, only GWContent publishes one, from £1,600. Most others price technical work by the day or within a monthly retainer, so ask for a quote.
Do I need a technical SEO agency or a general SEO agency?
If your site is large, is about to migrate, or has crawling and indexing problems, a technical specialist is worth it. If your site is small and healthy, a general SEO agency or consultant can usually cover the technical basics.
How do I check a technical SEO agency's results?
Ask for a named client and a technical outcome with a number, such as pages indexed, crawl requests saved or traffic recovered after a migration. Then check the business at Companies House and read its reviews on Trustpilot or Clutch.
