01 / What Are Cookies

A cookie is a small text file placed on your device when you visit a website. It allows the site to recognise your device on subsequent visits and store information about your preferences or actions — such as whether you've accepted cookies or what's in your shopping cart.

This policy explains what cookies are set on www.gwcontent.com, why they are used, and the choices available to you. It applies alongside the Privacy Policy.

UK legal basis. Under the UK GDPR and the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations 2003 (PECR), I'm required to obtain your consent before setting any non-essential cookies. Strictly necessary cookies do not require consent.

02 / Cookie Categories

I use four categories of cookies on this site. The table in section 3 details the specific cookies within each category.

Strictly Necessary

Required for the site to function. Cannot be switched off. No consent required under PECR.

Analytics

Help me understand how visitors interact with the site. Includes Google Analytics 4 (GA4).

Marketing

Used to measure ad performance and enable retargeting. Includes Meta Pixel.

Functional

Enhance your experience by remembering preferences such as newsletter sign-up status.

03 / Cookies I Use

Strictly Necessary

A strictly necessary cookie is one that is essential for the website to function as intended. These cookies do not require your consent under PECR and cannot be disabled via the cookie banner.

Analytics — Google Analytics 4 (GA4)

An analytics cookie is one used to collect information about how visitors use a website, in order to improve it. No data collected by GA4 is used to identify you personally.

I use GA4 to understand how visitors find and use this site. Data is processed by Google LLC and may be transferred to the United States under Google's Standard Contractual Clauses. GA4 is configured with IP anonymisation enabled.

Opt out of GA4. You can install the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on, or manage preferences via the cookie banner. Google's privacy policy is available at policies.google.com/privacy.

Marketing — Meta Pixel

A marketing cookie is one used to track visitors across websites in order to display relevant advertisements. Meta Pixel cookies enable conversion measurement and allow me to show ads to people who have previously visited www.gwcontent.com.

Data collected via Meta Pixel is processed by Meta Platforms, Inc. and may be transferred internationally under Meta's Standard Contractual Clauses.

Opt out of Meta tracking. Visit Meta Ad Preferences to control personalised advertising. You can also manage preferences via the cookie banner. Meta's data policy is at facebook.com/policy.

Functional

A functional cookie is one that enables enhanced functionality and personalisation, such as remembering that you've previously signed up to a newsletter. Disabling these cookies may affect some features but won't prevent you from using the site.

04 / Managing Your Cookie Preferences

You have several options for controlling cookies:

Cookie Banner

When you first visit www.gwcontent.com, a cookie banner will give you the option to accept all cookies, reject non-essential cookies, or configure your preferences by category. You can withdraw or update consent at any time by clearing your cookies and revisiting the site.

Browser Settings

Most browsers allow you to refuse new cookies, delete existing cookies, or set alerts when cookies are sent. Note that disabling cookies may affect the functionality of this site. Guides for the main browsers:

Industry Opt-Out Tools

You can also opt out of interest-based advertising from participating companies via the Your Online Choices tool (EU/UK) or the Network Advertising Initiative.

05 / Third-Party Cookies

Some cookies on this site are set by third-party services I use. I don't control the cookies these parties set and recommend reviewing their respective privacy and cookie policies:

This site may also embed content from YouTube or LinkedIn from time to time. These platforms may set their own cookies when embedded content is loaded. Consent for these will be managed through the cookie banner where technically possible.

06 / International Data Transfers

Some third-party cookies result in your data being transferred to countries outside the UK, including the United States. Where this occurs, transfers are protected by appropriate safeguards such as UK-approved Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) or equivalent mechanisms.

For more detail on how I handle personal data more broadly, see the Privacy Policy.

07 / Changes to This Policy

I may update this Cookie Policy from time to time to reflect changes in the cookies I use or for operational, legal, or regulatory reasons. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page will always reflect when the most recent changes were made.

If I make material changes to how I use cookies, I'll notify you through the cookie banner on your next visit.

08 / Frequently Asked Questions

A cookie is a small text file placed on your device when you visit a website. It allows the site to recognise your device on return visits and store information about your preferences or actions — such as whether you've accepted cookies or what's in your cart.
Yes. I use Google Analytics 4 (GA4) for site analytics and Meta Pixel for measuring the effectiveness of paid social campaigns. Both require your consent before being set and can be declined via the cookie banner on your first visit.
You can manage cookie preferences via the cookie banner on your first visit to www.gwcontent.com. You can also use your browser settings to block or delete cookies, install the Google Analytics opt-out add-on, or update your Meta Ad Preferences to stop interest-based advertising.
Yes. Strictly necessary cookies — set by Shopify for cart, session, and authentication functions — cannot be switched off because the site cannot function without them. Under PECR, these do not require consent. All other cookies (analytics, marketing, functional) require consent before being set.
Cookie durations vary. Session cookies expire when you close your browser. The GA4 tracking cookie (_ga) lasts 2 years. Meta Pixel cookies last up to 3 months. Klaviyo's identifier cookie lasts 2 years. Full durations for every cookie are listed in the table in section 3.
Withdrawing consent for analytics, marketing, or functional cookies will not prevent you from using www.gwcontent.com. You may notice that newsletter sign-up prompts behave differently without Klaviyo's functional cookie. Strictly necessary cookies remain active regardless of your preferences.
